Myuna Wetlands
Myuna Wetlands are a gorgeous spot close to Dandenong and is a great place to go for a visit to one of our stunning wetlands located in Victoria. You can go there while exploring Myuna farm or reached via Floriana Avenue just off Power Road in Doveton. Myuna Farm provides a train trip to the wetlands for cost, since it’s a short walk away from the main farm.
The most prominent member of these wetlands are the community of Flying Fox bats which reside within the trees surrounding. They are loud and difficult to miss, particularly due to their distinctive scent. The colony is strong at 40,000 and has been in existence since the year 2014.
The wetlands house various waterfowl species including those of Pacific Black Duck and Wood Ducks. There are several introduced pet ducks that are living in the wetlands too. The ducklings in springtime are a joy to observe for kids of all ages. Be sure to pay attention to the sounds of Frogs.
A brief boardwalk through the wetlands leads you on a 10-minute walk through the area. A number of boards along the walk give some details about the wildlife and flora. There’s also an undercover area, with a view of the water as well as bins are available. A couple of benches are also available which are an ideal spot to relax and watch the bats or ducks.
The area is typically tranquil and is a wonderful place to educate children about the natural world and observe bats in their natural environment.
It is a great spot to observe the ducks and bats. We rode here from our home. It is essential to access the wetlands via Floriana Avenue. There is an entrance gate to the left of the street. The wetlands are home to benches for you to relax. A tranquil and peaceful place to unwind and watch the sunset. A lot of bats are within the trees for you to view. Fascinating creatures. The area is well-maintained and clean. There aren’t toilets within the area unless you visit Myuna farm. If you’re looking to stroll around there aren’t any places to walk from the lake (which isn’t the greatest). We recommend this spot if you haven’t visited before or would like to teach your children about the ecosystems, bats, etc.
