When children who have completed Kumon become adults and join into the workforce, they are capable of coming up with solutions for themselves, regardless of the problems. The abilities that students acquire from participating in Kumon can aid them in reaching their goals and goals.

Our Beginnings

It all started in 1954, when a little child’s mama, Teiko Kumon, found an exam in the pocket of her son. The kid’s name is Takeshi Kumon, and he was in the second year in elementary school. After noticing that his test scores weren’t as impressive as they normally were, his mom consulted her husband on the best way to proceed. His name was Toru Kumon who was who was a maths teacher at high school in the year. To respond to his wife’s concerns, Toru then began making maths worksheets for Takeshi, his son. Takeshi.

Toru Kumon believed the job of an educator is to instill the mindset of self-learning among children. This is why he tried a lot of trial and error while developing teaching tools for Takeshi to ensure that Takeshi could use the materials with ease each day and continue to increase his knowledge. Based on his experiences as a teacher at high school, Toru Kumon knew that the majority of students in the senior high school had difficulties with their maths classes due to their lack of calculation skills. Thus, he concentrated on improving the skills of Takeshi’s calculator and designed resources that would make it possible the son of his to study independently. Because, based on his own education, Toru Kumon knew that students can only develop real academic proficiency through progressing independently.

Toru Kumon wrote down calculus problems on loose leaf paper for Takeshi The materials that he developed in the year 1955 were the inspiration for the present Kumon worksheets. Takeshi quickly developed his abilities to study the materials developed by his father over half an hour each day. In the end, he could reach the level of differential as well as integral calculus at only few months into sixth grade. After the success of Takeshi, Toru Kumon invited students from the community to visit his house, and taught them in a similar manner similar to the way he taught Takeshi. In the end, everyone greatly increased their academic performance. In recognition of this, Toru Kumon wished to increase the capabilities of as many kids as he could with his teaching method. In 1958, Toru Kumon decided to set up his office in Osaka and also to establish more Maths Centres. In the following year, there was a steady increase in the numbers of Kumon students began to grow gradually. Attaining high school content through self-learning being the main goal, Toru Kumon’s aim was to enhance the capabilities of students to the highest level by enabling them to learn at a level suitable for the individual.

Children are born with the potential to develop. Through the practice of writing, reading and calculation, children are able to master the art of learning independently. Kumon believes that Kumon believe that education is the development of children’s capacity to be self-confident in the future and realize their goals and dreams. The Kumon Method was born out of the father’s love of his child, Kumon doesn’t have any constraints of the language, culture or even history. As more and more people learn about the advantages of Kumon Method, Kumon Method, it continues to expand its reach to more students across the globe.
