Fountain gate shopping center

Westfield Fountain Gate, a super-regional shopping center located in Narre Warren, in the south-eastern suburbs Melbourne, Australia. It is Australia’s second-largest shopping mall by area. It is home to all three discount department stores Big W, Target, and Kmart, making it the largest shopping center in Australia.

The centre opened in November 1970. It was later reconstructed and reopened by Sir Henry Winneke (Victorian Governor at the time), on March 11, 1980. Major tenants were Kmart and Coles. The adjacent homemaker center was opened in September 1988. In July 1995, the Westfield Group purchased the centre. The complex was then expanded and redeveloped to become a larger facility. It was completed in November 2001. It houses a number of major chains, including Kmart and Coles, Woolworthss, Big W. Target, Myer. Harris Scarfe, JB-Hi-Fi. Best & Less. There are also approximately 320 specialty shops.

Between 2011 and 2012, the complex underwent major expansions. The City of Casey approved the extension in December 2007. It included a new Myer store on two levels, a new Coles store of 4,200m2, and a new Myer store of 12,000m2. The new store was located near the former BILO. Target’s retail space increased from 6,884m2 up to 8,368m2. David Jones was originally set to open a new store in the expansion. However, Westfield terminated its contract with him in July 2010. Myer replaced David Jones in this expansion. David Jones was trying to end its contract with Westfield Group from 2003. Fountain Gate didn’t fit the company’s strategy or target audience. Myer replaced David Jones in the expansion.

It is also the home of the original Krispy Kreme Victoria.

The complex now has a new building. It is the City of Casey’s new entertainment precinct. It is the creative heart of the region. This is the new home for the Narre Warren Library.

Fountain Gate Shopping Centre was named after the mall that Kath & Kim frequent in their popular TV series Kath & Kim. The show’s scenes are shot at Fountain Gate as well as at Westfield Southland, another Westfield complex.

Fountain Gate Shopping Centre was used as a location for filming in Bad Eggs. In the opening scene, a car rolls into the shopping centre. Crystal Heights Shop Kingdom is the name of the mall in the film.

Narre Warren railway station, located approximately 1 km from the centre, is connected by several bus routes to Westfield Fountain Gate. Fountain Gate is also served by regional buses.

The Monash Freeway’s new Hallam Bypass section, which was opened in 2003, runs beside the complex. It can be seen from the windows of the food court. The Hallam Bypass Trail, a trail that was constructed in the same period, is located to the north-east of the centre. It provides pedestrian and cyclist access.
