Chelsea Beach
Chelsea Beach is a 1.5km long stretch of sand that runs straight between Bonbeach & Edithvale. The Chelsea Longbeach Life Saving Club patrols the beach.
While Edithvale Beach is bustling, Mordialloc Beach can be peaceful and tranquil. Chelsea may offer the perfect compromise between both.
It is quieter for those who want to spend a day at the beaches without crowds. However, it is also convenient to have great shops close by to help you navigate the area.
It is obvious that beachgoers tend to gravitate to the area around the Chelsea Lifesaving Club and the pier. This stretch of the sea is particularly beautiful with the green vegetation between the road, sand, and creating a stunning landscape of blue, green and tan colours as the water reaches the shore.
Chelsea Beach is not just a beautiful picture. It also has a number restaurants and eateries. There’s also a train station just across the street. This makes it easy to enjoy a ‘full-service’ day on the beach in this lovely part of Melbourne.
Chelsea beach, located between Edithvale & Bonbeach, is a popular summer spot with easy road access and parking. There are also picnic and park facilities. The beach is safe to swim and the water is very shallow until it gets deeper.
The pier is located south of the lifesaving club and is great for fishing. You should not leap off the pier as it can be dangerous because of the shallow water below.
The beach is located 250m west of the Chelsea Railway station, which is on Frankston line. The Nepean Highway is adjacent to a bustling shopping area.Chelsea beach has a General Beach Danger Rating of 3/10 (Least Hazardous) and is patrolled.
Victory Park has a playground with a lighthouse that overlooks the beach. There is a shelter next to the playground with four tables, two barbecues and four tables. Another shelter has two tables, two BBQs and more tables. Toilets are also available. The beautiful mosaic of the weedy, sea dragon can be seen on the wall by the toilet.
The deck area is located between the playground and the beach. It has three beautiful curved wooden seats that allow you to take in the view and sounds of the waves, the water tap, and the beach shower.
The Chelsea Longbeach Life Saving Club is located at The Strand, 50m from the playground. Another beach shower is available at the Life Saving Club to remove any sand.
The beach is long and sandy, with a stretch that stretches in all directions. A small pier is located 100m to the South. The water might be shallow so don’t leap off the pier. There are 18 beach huts south of the Pier, set back in the dunes. The sandy beach continues all along the coast to Bonbeach Beach.
