GKR Karate was established In Adelaide, South Australia, in 1984.

In 1991, the GKR club had grown to an average attendance of 2,000 people throughout Adelaide. With a modest but committed group of experienced instructors GKR started to expand into other cities across Australia. In the year 2000, GKR Karate Australia was an impressive group of more than 15,000 members, and had enjoyed significant success in the State as well as National Open Tournaments, with increasing numbers athletes who won National as well as World Championships.

At present, there are 25 Regional Managers across Queensland, NSW, ACT, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. Each region is run and managed by a certified Regional Manager. The role of the Regional Manager is to oversee the training of karate and the expansion of the business in their region.

GKR Karate Australia has 2 Senior Instructors/Zone Directors , whose job is to assist in the growth of the karate-ka at GKR and operation personnel, and to ensure that GKR’s standards are adhered to both in and outside of the dojo.
