St Kevin’s Primary School
St Kevin’s School, Hampton Park, was established for the first time in 1988. It had a total enrollment of 76 students.
The school moved to its current location on Hallam Road in 1990 with a student enrollment of 174. In 1990, a major building program was completed, including an administration area, staff room, and library. In 1991, a parish church with a chapel and hall was built on the site.
The second stage of building program consisted of seven learning areas. It was completed in mid 1994, when school enrollment was 404. The third stage included four additional learning areas, a new library, and a refurbishment of the administration. This stage saw 608 enrolments.
The school opened its new multipurpose hall and four learning areas in 2003. Verandahs were built to provide shade and connect portables. The school is located on large grounds with re-locatable classes. They are situated around a central area of the garden, which is adjacent and opposite to the permanent buildings. The school grounds also include the Parish House and St Kevin’s Church.
There is also an adventure playground, two soccer fields, a shaded pergola area, and a large paved parking lot that houses netball, volleyball and tennis courts. The adventure playground has a giant chessboard, as well as several smaller tables and seating areas for chess. Other areas have been created for quiet play.
The Learning Centre was renovated in 2008 and new equipment purchased. St. Kevin’s completed a major building project as part of the Commonwealth Government’s stimulus funding “Building the Education Revolution”. We now have a 3/4 Learning Area. The school toilets were renovated and an artificial play area was installed on the oval. All of these projects were started in 2009 and completed in 2010.
